At what age should I first take my child to the dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends taking your child to the dentist by their first birthday. Even though your child is small and their appointment will likely be a simple one, this first visit is essential for a couple of reasons:

1.    Early dental appointments, when handled correctly, can help eliminate fear, anxiety, and skepticism about the dentist. When children learn at a young age that the dental office is a positive place to be, they have an improved attitude toward dentistry and dental office visits that will stick with them for life.
2.    It is essential that we have an opportunity to communicate with you, the parents. We want to help you maximize your home care for your little one because we know that kids keep you busy. We can discuss brushing, flossing, what to expect with your child’s development, and when it’s time to break those habits that can cause oral health issues.

Dr. Magid is a father himself. He will treat your child the way he would want his own children treated. When we create a partnership with parents, we achieve the highest level of success when it comes to the health of your child.
