All-on-4

What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?

All-on-4 supports a full arch of fixed teeth on four implants. The two front implants go in straight, and the two back ones are angled into denser bone, so many patients told they lacked bone can still qualify without a separate graft. A slim bridge of 12 to 14 teeth stays in day and night and is cleaned in place like natural teeth.

Dr. Magid completed a two-year implant residency and places and restores full-arch implants with the BioHorizons system. Each arch is planned on a cone beam CT scan, with extractions, grafting, and sedation available. Teeth in a day means a temporary bridge, then the final one.

What Are the Downsides of All-on-4?

The main ones are surgery, healing time, cost, and upkeep. All-on-4 is a surgical procedure, often with extractions at the same visit, so expect a few days of swelling and a soft diet. The teeth you leave with are a long-term temporary set, and the final bridge follows after about four months. Cleaning under a fixed bridge takes a water flosser and some practice, and the upfront cost is higher than a denture.

This restoration is a great option for many, but it may not be right for everyone. Heavy smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and some medications slow healing. The complimentary consultation gives you a plain answer on All-on-4, a removable implant denture, or a simpler option.

Benefits

Benefits of All-on-4 Dental Implants

The bridge is attached to the implants and stays in day and night. There is no adhesive, no soaking cup, and no slipping when you laugh or bite into an apple, so there is nothing to lose.

You do not go home without teeth. A long-term temporary bridge is fixed to the implants on surgery day, and the final bridge replaces it after about four months, once the implants are solid.

Angling the back implants into denser bone means many patients with years of bone loss can have All-on-4 without a separate grafting stage. When a graft or sinus lift is needed, it is done here.

A fixed bridge handles far more biting force than a denture. With no plate over the roof of your mouth, food tastes the way it should, and speech usually settles within a few days of getting used to it.

Implants stimulate the bone the way roots do, so the jaw is less likely to shrink under the bridge. A denture rests on the gum, where the bone beneath can keep receding over the years.

Extractions, implants, and bridges happen here with Dr. Magid. He offers nitrous oxide and oral sedation, and IV sedation comes from Dr. Jonathan Mendia, DMD, a visiting dental anesthesiologist from Rutgers.

Our Process

How Does All-on-4 Treatment Work?

  1. A patient having a cone beam CT scan at Magid Dental Care

    Step 1

    Consultation and 3D Scan

Dr. Magid examines your teeth and gums, takes a cone beam CT scan that shows your bone in 3D, and reviews your health history. You leave with a plan and an itemized quote. The consultation is complimentary, and the 3D scan fee is waived if you proceed.

  2. Dr. Magid placing full-arch implants with a surgical guide

    Step 2

    Surgery Day and Temporary Teeth

Any remaining teeth in the arch are removed, and the implants go in exactly where the scan planned them, using a surgical guide. A long-term temporary bridge is fixed on before you go home, with nitrous oxide, oral, or IV sedation if you choose.

  3. A patient at a healing check after All-on-4 surgery

    Step 3

    Healing, About Four Months

The bone bonds to the implants while you wear the temporary bridge. Soft foods protect the implants, and we check your progress along the way. Swelling settles within a few days, and many patients return to their routine within a week.

  4. Dr. Magid fitting a final All-on-4 bridge

    Step 4

    Your Final Teeth

Once the implants are solid, Dr. Magid takes a digital scan and a lab makes your final bridge, matched to your face and bite. He fits and adjusts it himself. After that, it is cleaned underneath with a water flosser and checked at every cleaning.

FAQ

All-on-4 FAQs

What it costs, when you can eat normally, whether it is worth it, what insurance pays, and how to clean it.

It depends on what the fee includes. A full case covers the scan, extractions, surgery, a temporary bridge, and the final bridge. We do not publish prices as each case is unique. Your itemized quote follows the complimentary consultation, and CareCredit and Cherry can help spread the cost.

Soft foods for the first few months, then almost anything once the final bridge is fitted. The temporary bridge is made to eat with, but the implants are still bonding, so keep food soft and small. Dr. Magid tells you when to move on to firmer foods.

For a failing arch or a loose full denture, often yes. You get teeth that stay in, chew well, and help preserve your jawbone density, and implants can last for decades with care. An implant denture is a middle step on a tighter budget, and we will let you know which option best suits your needs.

Rarely in full, sometimes in part. Plans pay up to a yearly maximum, and many exclude implants, though some PPO plans help with extractions or the final bridge. We are in-network with Delta Dental; check your benefits and show the estimate on your quote. CareCredit and Cherry apply.

Twice a day along the gumline and under the bridge. Brush the bridge like natural teeth, then clean the gap beneath it with a water flosser or the floss threaders we show you. Come in every six months so we can clean around the implants, with air polishing included.

An implant denture snaps on and comes out, while All-on-4 is fixed and stays in. A snap-in denture rests on two to four implants, comes out at night, and costs less. All-on-4 uses a slimmer bridge on four implants with no plate across the palate. Both help limit bone loss.
