Natural-Looking Smile Makeovers

A smile makeover combines whitening, veneers, bonding, crowns, Invisalign, or implants into one plan with one finished result. Dr. David Magid, DMD, designs it on a scan of your teeth and starts with your bite.

Smile Makeovers

What Is Included in a Smile Makeover?

A smile makeover combines two or more treatments into one plan, chosen from a short list: whitening first, so everything made afterward matches the brighter shade; veneers or bonding to reshape the front teeth; crowns for worn or cracked teeth; Invisalign for crowding; and implants or a bridge for missing teeth. Nothing is added that your smile does not need.

Dr. Magid starts with your bite and gums, because veneers and crowns on a poor bite can chip and loosen. He designs the shape and shade on a digital scan, determines the number of visits required, and completes every step here. Most makeovers use two or three treatments, not all of them.

How Much Is a Smile Makeover?

The cost varies based on the total of the treatments in your plan, from whitening and bonding at the lower end to veneers on six to 10 teeth or implants at the higher end. The number of teeth and the materials matter most. We do not publish prices, and you get an itemized quote at the consultation, which is complimentary when veneers, crowns, or implants are involved.

Dental plans do not cover cosmetic work but often pay a share of restorative parts, like a crown on a cracked tooth. We are in-network with Delta Dental, and CareCredit and Cherry financing apply and are subject to credit approval.

Common Concerns

What Changes After 50?

A patient in her 60s smiling after a smile makeover at Magid Dental Care

Flat front teeth make the face look older. Veneers or crowns restore length and the smile line, and a nightguard may be recommended so the new edges are not ground down in turn.

Enamel thins and the yellower layer beneath shows through. Whitening comes first and is sometimes enough, and teeth that do not respond are covered with bonding or veneers matched to the new shade.

Old crowns show dark lines at the gum, and old front fillings yellow. Both are replaced with tooth-colored crowns and new bonding matched to the teeth beside them, so your smile looks uniform.

Small chips and uneven edges are corrected with bonding in one visit. A cracked tooth or an edge that has broken more than once can often benefit from a veneer or crown, which protects the tooth as well as the aesthetic.

As gums recede, dark triangles open between teeth and roots show. Gum treatment comes first if there is disease, then the spaces are closed with bonding or veneers, and exposed roots are covered.

Back teeth lost years ago let the bite close too far, wearing the front teeth. Implants or a bridge rebuild the support so the front teeth can be restored to their proper length.

Our Process

How Does a Smile Makeover Work?

  1. Dr. Magid reviewing a digital scan with a patient during a smile makeover consultation

    Step 1

    Consultation, Scan, and Design

Dr. Magid asks what you want to change, then examines your teeth, gums, and bite with a scan and photos. You see the options with a quote for each service and a written plan of the visits. The consultation is complimentary for veneers, crowns, or implants.

  2. Jennifer treating a patient's gums before cosmetic work begins

    Step 2

    Health First, Then Whitening

Gum disease, decay, and cracks are treated before anything cosmetic, and any bite problem is corrected, because veneers and crowns on an unstable bite often fail. Whitening comes next, so every veneer, crown, and bonding that follows matches your brighter teeth.

  3. Dr. Magid fitting porcelain veneers at a smile makeover visit

    Step 3

    The Makeover Visits

Bonding and whitening are single visits. Veneers and crowns take two visits: teeth are prepared and scanned, and you wear temporaries shaped like the result until the lab-made final teeth are fitted. Nitrous oxide or oral sedation is available.

  4. A patient's finished smile makeover being checked by Dr. Magid

    Step 4

    Final Fit and Protection

The finished teeth are checked for fit, color, and how they meet, and the bite is adjusted until it is even. A nightguard protects the work if you grind, and six-month cleanings help keep your smile rejuvenation looking and feeling good. A chipped veneer or bonding gets a same-day visit.

FAQ

Smile Makeover FAQs

How long a makeover takes, the difference between a makeover and reconstruction, natural results, sedation, insurance, and aftercare.

From a few weeks to several months, depending on the plan. Whitening and bonding take two or three visits, veneers or crowns add two visits a few weeks apart, Invisalign adds four to six months, and implants add about four months of healing. Your customized plan will determine the timeline.

A makeover is cosmetic work on a healthy mouth, mostly the front teeth. A reconstruction rebuilds health and function first across most teeth, with cosmetic work last. Dr. Magid’s exam shows which you need, because cosmetic work on an unhealthy mouth does not last.

Yes. Updated tooth shades are chosen based on your skin and the whites of your eyes, not the brightest tab, and the shapes are designed for your face. For veneers and crowns, you wear temporaries shaped like the result first, and changes are made before the final set is fitted.

Yes. Most visits need only local anesthetic, but nitrous oxide and oral sedation are provided by Dr. Magid, and IV sedation by Dr. Jonathan Mendia, DMD, a visiting dental anesthesiologist. You’ll need a ride home after oral or IV sedation.

Not the cosmetic parts, but plans usually pay a share of restorative work, such as a crown on a cracked tooth. We separate the two on your quote, are in-network with Delta Dental, file claims for other PPO plans, and offer CareCredit and Cherry financing.

Brush and floss as usual, wear a nightguard if you grind, and attend six-month cleanings so your restorations are regularly checked. Avoid biting ice, pens, and nails to prevent damage to your smile.
