Invisalign straightens mild to moderate crowding, gaps, and bite problems with clear, removable aligners, not brackets and wires. Most adult cases take four to six months. Dr. David Magid, DMD, plans each treatment plan based on a thorough scan.

1-2
weeks of wear for each set before you switch to the next
Invisalign
Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to move your teeth a fraction of a millimeter at a time. You wear them 20 to 22 hours a day and switch to the next set every one to two weeks. There are no brackets, wires, or tightening, and you take them out to eat, brush, and floss. Small tooth-colored attachments are sometimes bonded on for grip.
Dr. Magid plans every case from a digital scan that shows the expected result before the first aligner is made. He treats crowding, spacing, and relapse after braces, usually in four to six months, with Invisalign Express for minor corrections in a few weeks.

What It Corrects
Adults most often come in for these concerns in their mild to moderate forms. Severe cases go to an orthodontist, and Dr. Magid tells you which one is yours at your consultation.

Overlapping teeth eased into line so they are easier to clean.

Spaces between front or back teeth are closed gradually.

A mild to moderate overbite or underbite can often be improved.

Teeth meet more evenly, so your bite feels balanced.

Invisalign suits adults with mild to moderate crowding, gaps, a rotated tooth, or teeth that drifted after braces. It fits people who want straighter teeth without anyone noticing, to continue eating the foods they love, and those who prefer fewer visits. Healthy gums and teeth come first, so any cleaning or filling is done before the aligners are made, and both are checked at your exam.
Invisalign is not for severe orthodontic cases, such as a large overbite or underbite, badly rotated teeth, or a jaw that needs surgery. Dr. Magid will evaluate your smile during the consultation and, if needed, will refer you to an orthodontist. For most adult smiles, Invisalign is an option.

Benefits

The aligners are clear and sit close to the teeth, so colleagues and clients rarely notice them. For adults who would never wear metal braces, that is often the deciding factor.
Aligners come out for meals and coffee and go back in afterward, so there is no list of forbidden foods and nothing to get caught in. The only rule is to wear them 20 to 22 hours a day.
Smooth plastic instead of brackets and wires means no cut cheeks and no tightening visits. A new set of aligners feels snug for a day or two, which is a sign your smile is being aligned as planned.
Progress visits are about every six to eight weeks rather than monthly, and each is quick: a check of the fit and movement, and the next sets of aligners to take home, so treatment fits around work.
Typical treatment for mild to moderate cases is four to six months, and Invisalign Express corrects a minor shift in a few weeks. Complex cases take longer, and Dr. Magid tells you which option will best suit you.
No putty impressions. A digital scan becomes a treatment preview you see before the first aligner is made. The same scan also plans any whitening or bonding once your teeth are straight.

Our Process

Step 1
Dr. Magid examines your teeth, gums, and bite, takes a digital scan, and tells you whether Invisalign fits, whether it is an Express or full case, and how long it should take. You see the preview and an itemized quote before deciding.

Step 2
Your custom aligners are made. You pick up the first sets. Any small attachments are bonded on, Dr. Magid checks the fit, and you learn the routine: 20 to 22 hours a day, out for meals, and a new set every one to two weeks.

Step 3
Every 6 to 8 weeks, you come in for a short check of the movement and fit before taking home the next set of aligners. When a tooth lags, a refinement scan and a few extra aligners bring it in line, which is normal and planned for, and Dr. Magid explains each change.

FAQ
Invisalign cost in New Jersey, whether a quote is reasonable, how long it takes for adults, insurance, and overbites.
It depends mostly on how many aligners your case needs, so a few weeks of Invisalign Express costs far less than a full four-to-six-month case. We do not publish prices since treatment costs vary from patient to patient; your itemized quote follows the exam and scan. CareCredit and Cherry financing apply.
That figure is realistic for a short, minor-correction case, such as Invisalign Express for a shifted front tooth. For a full case, it would be unusually low, so ask what is left out, such as refinements, retainers, or progress visits. Our quotes are itemized after your exam.
For a full mild-to-moderate case in New Jersey, that falls within the typical range, and what matters is what it includes: the scan, every aligner, progress visits, refinements, and retainers. Our itemized quote after the exam shows exactly what is covered.
Typically four to six months for the mild to moderate cases treated here, and a few weeks for an Invisalign Express case. Length depends on how far the teeth must travel and how faithfully aligners are worn. Dr. Magid gives you the expected length from your scan before you start.
Sometimes, through an orthodontic benefit; some plans pay a share up to a lifetime maximum, and many have none. We check your plan and show the estimated insurance payment on your quote. A flexible spending or health savings account can often help, and CareCredit and Cherry apply.
A mild to moderate overbite, yes; a severe one usually needs an orthodontist. Invisalign moves the front teeth and, with attachments and small elastics, can improve how the teeth meet. Dr. Magid tells you at the consultation whether it applies and refers you if needed.
