Implant Dentures That Snap In

An implant denture clicks onto two to four implants, so it stays put when you eat and talk and comes out to clean. Dr. David Magid, DMD, places the implants and fits it. The consultation is complimentary.

How Many Implants for Snap-In Dentures?

Usually two to four per arch. Two is the minimum for a lower snap-in denture, and an upper denture generally needs four because the upper jaw bone is softer. Small attachments on the implants click into matching housings in the denture, so it no longer floats on the gum. The exact number depends on the bone your cone beam CT scan shows.

Dr. Magid completed a two-year implant residency and places the BioHorizons system with a surgical guide made from your scan. Extractions, bone grafting, and sedation are available in the same office, and he fits and adjusts the denture himself rather than sending you elsewhere.

How Implant-Supported Dentures Work

Who Should Get Implant Dentures?

Anyone whose full denture slips, clicks, or needs adhesive, and anyone about to lose their remaining teeth who wants more than a plate. Lower dentures are the usual reason, since there is little for a lower plate to hold onto, and two implants change that. You need healthy gums and enough bone, which the scan shows. Thin bone can be rebuilt with a graft, and gum disease is treated first.

Think of it as the middle step. A conventional denture rests on the gum, a snap-in denture holds firm on implants, and a fixed All-on-4 bridge stays in. At the consultation, Dr. Magid tells you plainly which fits your bone and budget.

Benefits

Benefits of Implant Dentures

A patient smiling with a snap-in implant denture at Magid Dental Care

Once the denture clicks onto the implants, it does not slip, rock, or lift when you bite, and the adhesive can go in the bin. Lower denture wearers often notice the difference at the first meal.

A denture held by implants lets you bite into foods a loose plate cannot handle, and it takes the worry out of speaking and laughing because it stays where it belongs, so meals and conversation feel natural.

A regular denture presses on the gum, where the bone beneath can shrink over the years. Implants stimulate the bone the way roots do, which helps slow that loss and keeps the fit steadier.

Because the denture is removable and rests partly on the gum, it needs only two to four implants, so surgery is shorter, and the cost stays below a fixed bridge. That is implant stability on a smaller budget.

The denture comes out at night, so you clean it in the sink like any denture and brush the implant attachments with a soft brush. There is no fixed bridge to clean underneath, which keeps daily care simple.

Implants, grafting, and the denture happen here with Dr. Magid. He offers nitrous oxide and oral sedation, and IV sedation comes from Dr. Jonathan Mendia, DMD, a visiting dental anesthesiologist from Rutgers.

Our Process

How Do Implant Dentures Work?

  1. A patient having a cone beam CT scan at Magid Dental Care

    Step 1

    Consultation and 3D Scan

Dr. Magid examines your gums, teeth, and denture, takes a cone beam CT scan to measure bone, and reviews your health history. You leave with a plan and an itemized quote. The consultation is complimentary, and the 3D scan fee is waived if you proceed.

  2. Dr. Magid placing implants with a surgical guide

    Step 2

    Implant Placement

The two to four implants go in where the scan planned them, using a surgical guide, with nitrous oxide, oral, or IV sedation if you choose. Remaining teeth can come out at the same visit, and grafting is done here when needed. You go home with a denture.

  3. A patient at a healing check after implant surgery

    Step 3

    Healing

Over three to six months, the bone bonds to the implants. You wear the adjusted denture, eat soft foods at first, and we check the sites along the way. The snap-in denture is attached after healing, not on surgery day. Same-day teeth are an All-on-4 feature.

  4. Dr. Magid fitting a snap-in implant denture

    Step 4

    Your Snap-In Denture

Once the implants are solid, attachments are fitted to them and your denture, new or adapted, gets matching housings. Dr. Magid fits it himself and shows you how to place and remove it. The small nylon inserts wear with use and are replaced at a routine visit.

FAQ

Implant Denture FAQs

What snap-in dentures cost, same-day options, retained versus supported, insurance, how long they last, and conversion.

More than a conventional denture and less than an All-on-4 bridge. The figure depends on the number of implants, any denture adaptation, and any grafting or sedation. We do not publish prices since costs vary by patient. Your itemized quote follows the consultation, and CareCredit and Cherry can spread the cost.

Not as a snap-in denture. The implants need a few months to heal before a removable denture can click on, so you wear your existing or a temporary denture meanwhile. Same-day teeth are possible with All-on-4, which uses a fixed temporary bridge. Dr. Magid will tell you which option is right for you.

A retained denture snaps onto two to four implants but still rests partly on the gum. A supported denture is carried entirely by the implants, usually more of them. Both are overdentures when they sit over implants. We will explain which one best suits you.

Partly, sometimes. Many PPO plans pay toward the denture as a major service, up to the yearly maximum, while implants are often excluded or capped. We are in-network with Delta Dental; check your benefits, and we'll show the estimate on your quote. CareCredit and Cherry apply to implants.

The implants can last for decades with daily cleaning and regular checks. The denture itself often lasts five to 10 years before the teeth wear or the fit changes, and the small nylon inserts are replaced about once a year. We check the gums around the implants at every cleaning.

Sometimes. A well-fitting denture in good condition can have the housings fitted after the implants heal. A worn or loose denture is better replaced with one made for the implants. Dr. Magid examines yours at the consultation and tells you which it is.
